With recent news that the Brits are only recycling 34.5%* of their household waste, Big Yellow Self Storage is urging the nation to use packing goods from sustainable sources by offering ethical alternatives in store and through their online box shop at https://www.bigyellow.co.uk/boxshop/
25.3 million tonnes of household waste is collected in England, yet only a third of this is actually being recycled. As the nation has become increasingly environmentally aware over the last decade, the trend in recycling and waste reduction has been shifting, with a growth from only 7.5% in 1999. This has prompted Big Yellow Self Storage to highlight the environmental credentials of its packing materials including distances travelled from source. All cardboard packing materials have a recycled content ranging from 70% to 100%.
Big Yellow Self Storage’s plastic storage containers are predominantly recyclable polypropylene, while the collapsible type are 100% recycled polypropylene content. The range of portable shelving merchandise is made from recycled polypropylene or timber. All loose fill packing material provided by Big Yellow Self Storage is made of a minimum 90% recycled polystyrene and packing tissue paper of 50% recycled content.
With Big Yellow Self Storage customers can ensure they have a choice of packing materials that are ethically sourced from reliable sustainable sources with an extensive range of packing materials including boxes, tissue paper and corrugated protective card that can be sent out to homes from their online box shop.
As well as offering a selection of ethically sourced packing materials, Big Yellow Self Storage is offering a prize to help Brits with their eco conscious goals. They’re offering an Eco HD TV from their Facebook Page, to help reduce energy consumption. Visit Big Yellow Self Storage’s blog for full details.
